Who are Parent Partners?

Parent Partners is a program that provides one-to-one support to birth parents who are involved in the Child Welfare System. We are looking for parents who are willing to lock arms with another parent and "be with" them on their journey towards reunification with their children.  It is simple, we provide the training  and you provide the experience. Then you are matched. 

Parent Partners-

Instill hope: Hope is contagious. Parent partners share their own experiences overcoming significant obstacles in their life and help to create change in behavior patterns for birth parents.

Self-Awareness: Parent partners commit to raising parent self-awareness regarding assumptions in parenting, challenge attitudes and beliefs that compromise safety and child well-being.

Connection: Parent partners form trusting relationships with birth parents. The need to connect to safe others does not end when we become adults. We know from the research on adult attachment that working with parents “state of mind” regarding attachment is more important than just changing parents’ behavior. A change in behavior may not change parent’s underlying relationship strategies with their child.
