We want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It has been a hard year, but we believe that "good things come from hard places." Take a moment and count the good that came with the hard experiences this year. If you look for the good, your reticular activating system (RAS), a network of neurons located in the brainstem will assist you. The RAS filters out unnecessary information so that important stuff gets through. It filters the world through your focus! Focus on a few good experiences each time a negative experience comes to mind and watch what happens.
Speaking of focusing on the good, here are a few good experiences scheduled in January 2021.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention Caregiver - Friday Evening and Saturday Morning Sessions: Friday, January 8th at 6:30 pm-8:30 pm and Saturday, January 9th, 12:30 pm-2:30 pm. We meet for 5 weeks, 10 days, for a total of 20 hours.
Managing ADHD Symptoms: Saturday, January 8th, 9:30 am - 11:00 am. This is a complimentary session and seats are filling up fast. This session is capped at 50 participants.
Nurture Groups (Parent-Child sessions) resume on Tuesday, January 5th from 6:30 pm -7:30 pm. Nurture Groups are designed to reinforce and make practical the concepts and strategies that parents discover during Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Our sessions are therapeutic and healing to families who have experienced adverse experiences or have challenging behaviors in the home.
Interventions
1. Play Attention and Focus Assessments for students diagnosed with ADHD. Play Attention systems measure brain activity using an armband and provide feedback about attention, focus, distractability, and impulsivity. The system is directed exclusively by the student's attentive state which allows us to measure attention, shape behavior, and strengthen the student's ability to focus longer without distraction while decreasing impulsivity.
2. Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a non-invasive application of the Polyvagal theory.. The SSP employs a practical bottom-up approach to help people regulate their nervous system more consistently and independently.
